About Us

The Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Local School District is committed to providing a world-class education within a caring, supportive and responsive community. The district’s mission is to empower its students to be responsible decision-makers and effective problem solvers. To persevere in achieving life goals, embrace learning as a lifelong process, and to contribute to communities both locally and beyond.

The district has consistently been noted as one of the top-performing districts in Ohio. With its five-star report card at the close of the 2021-22 school year, it was ranked as the 13th-best public school in the state among 607 districts according to Cleveland.com.

Not to be outdone, in the 2022-23 school year, the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools received an overall rating of 5 stars and earned 5 stars in each of the component areas (Achievement, Progress, Gap Closing, Graduation and Early Literacy). In fact, our district is just one of eight school districts in the entire state to earn 5 stars in the overall rating and each of the five overall components out of the more than 600 public schools rated … and Bellbrook was the only district in the greater Dayton area to do so.

The district operates under a locally elected five-person board that oversees finances, staff, facilities and curriculum. The Board of Education meets on the second Thursday of each month at Bellbrook Middle School. There are four other meetings each year which rotate to the other buildings in the district. Their meetings can be watched in real time by

Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools are funded primarily by local property taxes, grants, fees and contributions, as well as some funding from the state.

The district consists of five buildings. The Board of Education, Central Office and Preschool are located in the St. Pierre Education Center. Grades K-2 report to Stephen Bell Elementary, 3-5 are at Bell Creek Intermediate, 6-8 are at Bellbrook Middle School and 9-12 are at Bellbrook High School. Overall, the district serves 2,700 students with its 260 staff members.

Each of the buildings in the district have been designated as Purple Star buildings, meaning they exemplify a major commitment to students and families connected to the military. Students continue to excel on state tests and score high on ACT and SAT tests.

Athletic teams consistently win the Southwestern Buckeye League titles – including seven straight all-sports titles as of the 2022-23 season – and the Marching Eagles have won numerous national titles. Our Drones teams have won back-to-back national titles, too!

All of these endeavors are aided by the work of the PTO, athletic boosters, music boosters and the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Education Foundation, as well as several other charitable groups. The BSEF is a non-profit organization that raises money for scholarships, teacher grants and other academic, capital improvement and community ventures.

But none of these accomplishments happen without the teachers and staff who go above and beyond on an everyday basis, as well as the families in the district who take an active role in their students' education to make the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek educational system that much stronger.
